Flash back…

Today was a bit of an emotional day for me.

This morning I woke up and did the usual routine. Shower, dress, breakfast then checked the mail. As soon as I got inside, there was a buzz from the front gate. Turned out I had a parcel. I always get excited when I get parcels so I quickly went down stairs and signed for it.

It was quite a large box and I couldn’t wait to open it. Once it was opened, on top of the pile was a note on pink paper. “Hope you like all these bits and peices babe, see you when I get there. Love Mum”. The next few items I noticed was a small scarf and soft teddy bear, beside it was a jolly jumper and a baby blanket. Under the blanket was an old photo album with my name written on it with Felt Pen. I could remember this photo album from years ago and thought it would be nice to go through it later on.

I put the baby things away and carried on going through the box. The next thing I found was a photo frame with a picture of myself, mum, dad, Hunter and Nadia. I’d never had a family photo of us all together so this definitely brought a tear to my eye. It was taken on the only family holiday we went on. We were at the top of the Auckland Sky Tower. The rest of the stuff were some clothes of Nadia’s that she’d left behind while she was there for Christmas.

Later in the afternoon, Dean came home for lunch so we decided to go through the photo album together. There photos from after my birth, my birthdays, sport games, school awards, the holiday, random times and a few sad times. As I got furher through the album.. thing’s got sad. The album was in order of age. So it went right through the times of my parents divorce. I could tell because one minute I was 7 years old, the next I was 13. There were some photos of when I moved to Wellington for 6 months when I was 12 or 13. I was anorexic from being influenced by sport and crazy healthy eating. My dad was busy working and I hated sharon, so they couldn’t do alot to help me… as much as they tried. So once I was better, I was able to move back to Christhchurch to carry on with the rest of my rebelious ways that weren’t expected.

I cried the whole time I looked at the later photos. Dean never asked what the story was behind the photo, so if I felt the need to, I told him. But tonight while we were eating dinner, he asked if he could know the storys. So for the next few hours, I told him everything. Some of it he knew, some of it he didn’t.

At the end of the day, it was good to reflect on my past that I have only just begun to think about. For ages, I have been ignoring all the bad things that have happened and all the crap I caused. I really think this blog might help in some good way :)

Too Long!

WOW! I have been slack!!!

Alot has happened in the past month, so let me fill you in.

Dean’s parents and younger brother moved to Christchurch 3 days before Christmas. His parents and I seem to get along great now and they seem excited about the baby. When Dean and I first began dating, they weren’t exactly happy. Same thing could be said about when they found out I was pregnant, but I think over the months they got over it.

Christmas day came and I woke up to breakfast in bed and a small present at the end. I put breakfast to the side and reached for my present. By now, Dean was back in bed with me. I unwrapped my present to find a brand new iPhone just for me!!!
Then it  was Dean’s turn. I got out of bed and went into my walk-in-wardrobe to get his present. It was a small silver wrapped box which I threw at him. He caught it perfectly then unwrapped it to find a silver key inside a box. I had paid off the rest of the new car he was buying.

We spent Christmas morning at my dad’s house to have a champagne breakfast, which was more like a lunch. All of Sharon’s family was there.. and man! they are all just as bad as she is!!! My Aunty Jenette (Dad’s sister) was there with her husband (Uncle Andrew) and their kids Melissa (14 yrs) and Harry (11 yrs). They are from Ashburton and travelled up for a couple of days to spend with the family. My grandparents (on dad’s side) were there too. They gave Dean and I $200 for Christmas!

After lunch we went home to get ready for dinner at Dean’s parents. It was just us, his parents, his brother Ryan and his sister Tessa and her partner and son. Tessa and her family flew in from Sydney the day before Christmas.

Boxing day was an average day. We went to dad’s to eat left over food, then went home later that night.

The next day, Dean and I went to Nelson for New Years. Not that I could do alot.
There’s far too much to write about New Years so I won’t bother because nothing drastic happened.

We got back from Nelson 3 days ago. Since then I have been relaxing at home, doing nothing, hanging out with Tessa every now and then while Dean is back at work. Tonight Nadia is staying with us so I should really cook dinner.

Blog ya later!

Just my whole life I’ve had to deal with alot of stuff that a person at that age shouldn’t have. I mean one big reason was that I am 18 and pregnant.

Grrr Tumblr!

So yesterday (as alot of you may already know), Tumblr wasn’t working properly so I couldn’t blog!!! So I thought I’d do it today!!!

I woke up this morning in my new king size bed in my new home. Dean was already up and making breakfast in bed for me (aren’t I lucky??). We both didn’t have to work (maternity leave for me and a day to move into the house for him). When he brought me breakfast and got back into bed, he decided he wanted to buy a tv for in the bedroom. I could see his point, since I’ve been pregnant I’ve been getting sore feet alot so I would lie in my bed (at dad’s place) or on the couch to watch tv. Once breakfast was finished I got the first shower then while I waited for Dean, decided to ring Kim (one of my friends).

Her dad answered and said she was still asleep but would take the phone to her. After a quick talk I said goodbye and turned on the tv only to have it switched off by Dean. “Let’s go shopping” he said.
I never turn down an opportunity to go shopping so I was up on my feet as fast as lightening. At the moment we drive a  double cab hilux that use to belong to Dean’s boss. It’s not my idea of a town car let alone a family car, so we’re buying a new car soon. First place we went was to find a tv… WHICH WE DID! It was a reasonably good price thank goodness! Next stop was shopping for me! and Dean of course.
We bought….

  • A little jacket for the baby
  • A mobile for above the baby’s basinet
  • Slippers for the baby
  • A new robe for me
  • A facial kit for me
  • New shoes for me
  • Two new shirts for Dean
  • A pair of shorts for Dean
  • A new cd (dean’s choice) & two DVD’s

When I got home I got a phone call from mum!!
She wanted my address to send a gift for the baby, not that I needed anymore stuff. I thought I was pretty sorted. Once we said goodbye, Dean and I ordered pizza for dinner then parked up and watched movies for the night. I love little moments like that =]

The Beginning Of A New Life

Today I woke up at 6:00AM to my little sister Cassie charging into my room.
“Mum says you have to get out of bed!” she yells then leaves my room and the bedroom door open!
I haul my overweight body out of my bed. I guess the best part of my dad’s new life for me was the new house we moved into just over a year ago. My room was large with a King size bed, a plasma tv on the wall, walk in wardrobe and an ensuite (oh the joys of a dad trying to make up for having a twisted new wife). I wandered down to the kitchen to find my dad and Sharon sitting at the breakfast bar awaiting my arrival.
“I thought being pregnant would at least mean I get to sleep in” I moaned.
Dad just  ignored me and replied “breakfast is on the table, then I need you to get showered and ready to go into town, we’re moving the last of your stuff”.

Today (being Sunday) meant my sister Nadia was here too. She wasn’t happy that I would be leaving her with this family from now on. I always told her that if she hated it that much she can always move to Wellington to live with mum, but she didn’t want to be around a bunch of little kids or move from the city she knows.
I finished breakfast and went straight to my room for a shower. Once I got out, Nadia was sitting on my bed watching tv. Once I move out my room would be hers and she could move out of the guest room. Here’s our conversation…

Me: What’s Up?
N: Do you have to move, can’t Dean live here?
Me: We’ve talked about this, you’re always welcome to stay at the apartment for a weekend.
N: I hate Sharon.
Me: Same, but you can always hide in your new room now. Just don’t turn into the girl I was.
N: Ok if you say so.
Me: Good now get out, I need to get dressed.

Once she had gone I rang Dean to make sure he would be at the apartment when I got there. He was still asleep but woke up after a billion times trying to ring, and he promised he would be. I grabbed my suitcase and packed the last of my belongings and changed into my hideous maternity clothes.

Once I was ready to leave hell, I went downstairs to tell dad and say goodbye to the devil and my sisters. Then we were off (along with Nadia who came for the ride). Dad took me grocery shopping for the new house then dropped us off. Nadia was going to spend the day with Dean and I then we would drop her off at the hostel. Dean met us outside then we went to my new home for the first time. I had never been inside the apartment before. It was so flash and modern. Leather couchs, huge flat screen tv, large kitchen, two bedrooms (one for us and another for the baby), an ensuite in my room and a verandah at the front.

We all started to unpack the boxes and by lunch time we were done.
The only thing left to do was buy stuff for the baby and set up the room. Other than that, there was only a single bed and built in wardrobe in the room which will be the guestroom until baby comes. I decided to make savoloys in bread for lunch then took Nadia shopping before dropping her off at the boarding school.

When I got home, Dean had a roast cooking in the oven and put all the boxes away. I got to put my feet up, write my first blog and watch some tv. Now Dean’s watching a movie on tv so I took the opportunity to blog about my new home.

Till next time

Me, Myself & I

So this is a blog about my crazy life. To begin with, I’m willing to tell you my history.

My name is Amber, I’m 18 years old and live with my partner Dean. I’m currently pregnant with our first child (I’m 7 months through). I have never been the best child in my family (hence why I don’t live with them).

I have 6 siblings. My parents divorced when I was just a child. My dad is a doctor and remarried a woman I absolutely despise, her name’s Sharon. They are living only 30 minutes out of Christchurch on a lifestyle block with their 8 year old daughter Cassie (Cassandra).

My mum is a Travel Agent and lives in Wellington with her new husband Robby. She has three other children; Ethan (10 yrs), Malcolm (7 yrs) & Jacinta (5 yrs). I also have two other siblings; Hunter (20 yrs)- who is studying at the University of Otago so I don’t get to see him often and Nadia (16 yrs) who is at boarding school in Christchurch because she doesn’t like living with my dad and his family.

Dean’s family is a little more functional than mine. His parents are still together and are living in Auckland at the moment - however they will be moving to Christchurch in a few weeks (just before Christmas). They moved to Auckland when Dean was 18 (two years ago). He didn’t want to go so they left him in CHCH to flat with his friends and work on his building apprenticship. He has a younger brother named Ryan who is 18 years old. He’s moving back to Christchurch with his parents too. Dean also has an older sister named Tessa (22 years). She is engaged to Jack and already has a 1 year old son named Zach. They currently live in Sydney Australia.

Today Dean and I moved into his parents apartment in town. They were renting it out to a couple but they moved out yesterday. They offered us the house with cheap rent when they found out I was pregnant. I was living with my dad (which I hated) while Dean was flatting in a beat up old house with 3 of his friends.

The only reason I decided to write this blog now, was because moving into this apartment and starting a family of my own seemed like a new chapter in my life, that I wanted to vent out onto people.

So there’s my family, my current status and a little bit about myself. I’ll blog the rest as soon as I have finished my day.
